Why should you not read every book from cover to cover?

Standard books are written for university courses and professional use, not for one competitive-examination syllabus. They often contain valuable depth, but also chapters outside the examination scope.

  1. Start with the syllabus line. Define the exact concept you need.
  2. Read one primary explanation. Do not open four books simultaneously.
  3. Extract definitions, diagrams, formulas and exceptions.
  4. Solve related PYQs immediately.
  5. Condense the learning into a revision page.
  6. Return to the reference only when a doubt remains.

A reference book should answer a question in your syllabusโ€”not become a second syllabus.

When should official reports and websites replace old notes?

Textbooks are excellent for stable scientific concepts. They are less dependable for information that changes through amendments, notifications, new reports and institutional updates.
